Injectors for 240-250 hp

I would like to increase the hp on my truck to around 240-250 using only injectors. I know must of you guys on here have adjusted your pumps to get the hp I'm looking for and I know its free. Other than the 366 spring some day I really dont want to mess with the pump. What would be a good set of injectors to get the hp I'm looking for.

Thanks

POD's would get you there cheap and dirty. 190's will get you there with very mild pump tweaks.

How can you resist the lure of free power?

I've heard that turning up the fuel in the pump creates additional pressure within in the pump and shortens the life span. I've read alot of posts where people have had issues after messing with their pumps which I'd like to avoid. There are'nt very many people in the my area that know much about 1st gen's and I'm still in the early stages of learning. So I appreciate any help.

The way I drive, I don't expect the drivetrain to last for long stock, much mess modified...

Crank up the fuel pump. It's free and so far after one year of running hard I haven't caused a failure yet. the dyno numbers im my sig are at the ground thru a stock torque converter and automatic. The estimated flywheel horse power is 235 to 240.

TONS of people here run with tweaked pumps... I don't think there are too many failures.

If you have 240-250 hp, how much torque would you end up with??

On average anywhere from mid-500's to high-600's ft-lbs of Torque.

There are pump mods and there are pump change outs. A couple of guys are getting real serious torque and horsepower using the VE pump. Others are opting for the added expense of converting to a "P" pump. There was a thread a few months back that "Wannadiesel" was in that talked some real good numbers using the VE pump and a 14cm head from a bigger pump. It was so far above me that I don,t remember what all that was said but 700 horsepower and a thousand feet pounds rings a bell. My tranny wouldn't appreciate that so I just went on.

I was vary skeered to touch my pump . but after reading ablout all the mods I pick one and read it again will i was doing it. thay really aren't that difficolt......the ones that i have done, that is

Removing the cover under the star wheel and just turning it a 1/2 turn down will make it spool quicker or menny of the ether modes out there!

if you just wont to do inj ,then go for it, but if you want some free power then dont be afraid! ivan if you do mess up (witch you won;t if you fallow the tec face at the top(sticky!)

There is plenty of grate guys on this form that can anwer any question before, durning, or after the mods!

Just study the instruct and and do it!
Once you have it opened up, the instruction will make more sence!

I realy thing the only mod that would drasticley short'n your pumps life spand would be if the pop pressures were ingreast witch isn't evan the tec factes!

don't do it with out guages but As long as you have a pyro and a boost guage! Go for it!

Let me bring up a subject you'll run into sooner or later. That stock automatic transmission is set up poorly. The torque converter slips a lot, generating heat and heat kills transmissions. As you live in AZ, it would be good to look into this.

You can look at it another way, too. Changing to a stiff torque converter will couple quite a few more horsepower to the road at the low end. A valve body mod will keep the bands and internals in check and prevent slipping. Then a good trans cooler to get rid of the remaining heat and you can add HP till the cows come home.

Regards, DBF
