Injector return line banjo bolts

Does anybody know what size these are? Or where I can get them? Would they be available at a diesel shop? I need a full set. Thanks.

Have you tried the local parts house? They should have a selection and you just match them up. Otherwise they are definitely available at a diesel shop.

I was going to check with a diesel shop on Monday, I just assumed the parts house wouldn't have anything like that (except for a brake bolt). I'll check that today, thanks.

I guess it really depends on the parts house. Some are just generic while others will try to have what folks need. Are you in a farming area?

I'm looking too. One injector top was a few degrees off square to the return line, I thought I could get the small bolts in. I ended up with one cross threaded and leaky.

I just picked up three bolts from a local diesel shop. They were a little over $8.00 a piece. When I looked at them I noticed the hole in the neck of the bolt was considerably smaller than mine. He said those bolts were used for other applications besides the 5.9 Cummins, including 8.3 Cummins and Perkins engines. He said the smaller hole shouldn't make a difference, since it's just a return line. What do ya'll think?

The smaller the hole, the slower to return to the injection pump or fuel tank. It probably isn't a significant difference. If you feel inclined or are a little OCD, drill them out to match the other 3.

He mentioned that I could do that, but he said he wouldn't do it personally because he would be afraid to mess something up. I trust him, I just wanted to get some other opinions. Being a return line, is there enough fuel flowing through there to affect anything going on at the injectors? I just installed 5x.012's from DAP.

Drill the holes open, blow some brake clean, WD40 or high pressure air through them. I doubt they'll need to be opened by much, maybe a couple thousandths. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

If I were to guess, I would say it could delay injector needle lift by a very, very small amount due to slightly higher pressure in the return port. Again, I doubt it's very much to even be significant.
