Well after the second time tearing the top half down I have no leaks...but

Now I can't get the idle down, more 2000 rpm's. I hope time number three I get it fixed. I don't know if this is right, but I suspect it's not, when running the fuel power screw in the small pin that runs on the fuel pin also runs in. I must have the arm on wrong or something. In this case when you try to pull the fuel pin out it won't because of the small pin is out to far, until I back the power screw out.

It sounds like you have the throttle lever indexed wrong, you're probably just off a tooth.

That's what I thought too, but I've changed it one tooth back and one tooth forward with no change.

You may be more than one tooth off.

Well I still have the same problem. I've torn the top half off again to make sure nothing esle was binding. Everything looked fine. I run the power screw out until it wouldn't run. Started running it back in until it started and idle fine for 4 or 5 seconds, then it takes off again. I re-indexed the throttle shaft about 4 times and I still have the same problem know matter which way I turn it. The first time I took it apart for the 3200 spring I had zero problems. This is becoming very frustrating.

It's gotta be indexed wrong. I've had the same thing happen to me, I know how frustrated you are. Get the power screw and idle screw close to where they were before you started. Then back the lever off one spline at a time and you'll get it.

I spent a couple of hr. working on the truck today. I can get it to run but has no power at all.

I indexed the throttle shaft to several different places but it made no difference. It would idle fine anywhere from 5 sec to a minute and then take off. The only way to get it to idle right is to back out the power screw. In this state it will idle fine but has no throttle respond.

It sounds to me like you have it way too tight.

Where are you located, maybe somebody who's done a couple could come by and have a look.

Does this seem right. When I turn the power screw in, the small cross pin (the original leak) that rides on the fuel pin also starts running in. When I have the diapham out I see this and it does it way before the power screw is where it was originally. This doesn't seem right to me.

It should be pushed out by throttle lever movement.

That's what I thought, now to figure out why it's not. It doesn't move with the throttle lever, but when I crank the power screw in it does. I'll pull the top back off and see what's going on.

Fixed

Well all is well with the IP

The problem was, I bent the lever that the power screw adjusts. The long arm that sticks up when you pull the top of the pump. How I'm not sure, but when I ran the power screw in it would catch on the lever that the top hat is on, this in turn basically pushed the throttle open. So when it was backed out far enough to idle the power screw was backed out way too far.

Thanks again guys

Off now to tackle the leak at the fuel filter.
