Injection pump blues

1990 W250 267,000 FINALLY, a problem ! Got hard to stat ( sounded like a fuel line leak), next day wouldn't start at all. Our 'local' shop wants $1200 for a rebuild & they won't R & R.

there must be a better way ? The ol' gal just isn't worth $1200 anymore.

Anybody know of a cheaper rebuild or a used pump ?

around here its only about $700 for a rebuild and thats canadian. I don't understand how they can qoute you so high without even knowing whats wrong with it. I can see it being able to get that high if it needs alot of parts.
Good luck to ya!

I looked at the ads..didn't see anything.

Thought some of the experts here would know a better place than $1200

Figured others have popped injection pumps too.

BTW..If I spend 4 hours on it ..it may start..IF it starts..it runs like new.

I'll look around some more when time allows...

Have you checked your lift pump? Also check the fuel lines for leaks. The one from the tank to the lift pump could be sucking air which would let the fuel drain back down to the tank and cause it to be hard to start.

Could be the start shutdown solenoid on the injection pump has gone bad. Time to remove it, remove the spring and plunger, reinstall the solenoid and try starting again.

Place(s) to check for good deals on injection pumps:

Ebay www.ebay.com (There's a couple on there right now for $695. plus shipping & core charge. Here's the link:

http://motors.search.ebay.com/dodge-...Z6000QQsaspiZ2 )

Google www.google.com

And if you can't find it there, it probably doesn't exist. Good luck! Chuck

got lots of fuel at the injectors (loosened line & cranked it)

the folks at the rebuild shop said something about suspecting a spring being broken it the bottom of the pump............? Still wants $1200..."if we open it up ..we totally go thru it"
