Ignition switch replacement

Is there a video or post on how to change out the ignition switch? I didn't see one in the sticky and one link I found was dead. Does the steering wheel need to be pulled? Will the new switch have a new key?

Do a quick google search for GM ignition cylinder replacement. The Dodge vs GM are pretty similar. The column needs disassembled to replace your ignition cylinder.

I believe the switch is operated by a rod, and is mounted on the outside of the column near the bottom.
The service manual will have step by step instructions for replacing it.

The lock cylinder itself is a whole 'nuther story.

If you have a tilt wheel the switch is behind the key. If you don't the switch is mounted down on the column and operated with a rod from the key. This sticky might help with the Tilt wheel R&R.

The kit will come with a new key.
On mine, I needed a special Torx bit to R&R.
