I never have those problems cause there had better never ever ever be nobody starting/driving my truck that I wouldn't trust with my life, and I can count those on one hand-full of fingers.

As smart/electrical as you are, Jim, you should just put those retina-reading locks on everything and ditch all them keys; you've always got your retinas close at hand anyway.

Being in the long-haul cattle business for more years than most of you have been alive, I have collected a quart Mason-jar full of various Master-lock keys that are supposed to let me/truck/trailer into whatever ranch or stock-yards; trouble is, some gourd-head will go and change the lock without letting me know, I get there in the wee hours of the night with a big load of cattle, nineteen dogs of every kind known to man trying to see which one can tear my britches off first, and I ain't got a key that'll fit the lock, usually it's thundering lightning and pouring ice-cold rain the whole time.

So, many years ago, I invested in a BIG set of bolt-cutters; I ain't run into a lock since that that "KEY" didn't fit.

The trick is to clip the chain over on the back side, where nobody pays any attention, then, when you are ready to leave, just splice the chain back together with a piece of grass-string and next time all you need is a pocket-knife.

Silly Circuits

I'm with BK by circumstance: the only thing my key/switch runs now is the steering lock and instrument panel, oh and the cig power outlet. I have a series of rocker and toggle switches for my fuel shut-off, lights, electric fuel pump and a home-made push switch to wind the starter. And a la Jim Lane's sticky these switches fire relays under the hood so my heavy wires are quite short. If I ever replace all the fried wiring harnesses and switches to look stock (unlikely as I'm the only driver), you may be sure that the pricey new electrics will run only those relays, not carry the full circuit power. Sure wish I'd seen that sticky before all the wiring began smoking itself. I would've done the "relays" conversion long ago. Meanwhile I don't worry about "Beast" being stolen
