I would like to tweek my truck for better fuel economy
I use my truck mostly as a play truck. I am currently getting 17.75 MPG empty and 13 towing my 20' camper. (when I am easy on the skinny stick). I have my pump set with the fuel pin at the deepest setting, and star wheel all the way out . I removed the collar from the fuel screw and turned it all the way in till it it stopped turning. After doing this the fuel mileage didn't change but the power went waaay up. The truck will smoke before the turbo spools then clear up right away. If I really mat it I can lay quite a cloud of black smoke, although I am careful not to do this for too long as I don't want the EGTs to get too high.
Here are the questions
Would installing 185 or 190 injectors help my fuel mileage (6 holes instead of 4) without hurting my power.
How much gain do you think that I will get with a Hughs torque converter
I still haven't advanced the timing. How much does that help.
If anyone has any other good ideas for fuel economy please let me know.
I don't want to spend tons of money on the truck but if I spend the money and get results most of it should come back as fuel savings.

I'd put on a 4" exhaust, at least from the muffler back and BHAF first. The Non-IC injectors are good for a lot of horsepower, if everything else is right. Injectors won't help if you can't get the air in and out.

Where's your smoke screw set? Back it out all the way, and grind on the inside of the AFC cover to get the fuel pin riding higher - use the wear mark as your guide to how much material needs to come off. That black smoke on takeoff is wasted fuel.
The timing bump will help mileage as well. I wouldn't bother with injectors if yours are stock.

If injectors have not been serviced in last 100 k they are overdue. They slowly detoriate in pattern and pop pressure. You may be surprised with the milage improvement with stage one injectors. I was.
