I have a loud sound coming from the shifter??

I have a loud noise coming from my gear stick. It only dose it in 1st and 2nd and at low rpms in the rest of the gears and when u let off the gas. It sounds like a bearings out and is grinding gears up.It won't make this sound when u keep the trans under press with the rpms up but coming down it sound like its going to come apart. when its Idling its sounds like a bad throw out bearing and when u press in the clucth the sound go's away. Have any of u had this before? O yea Its a g360 Get's U A Rag ready

Sounds like a bearing died, and is bad under thrust load from deceleration. Better take her out and apart before it takes itself apart. : (

Sorry to hear that you are in that situation.

Just sounds like the inherent rattle they tend to get. You can fuss with the linkage, I've read some installed various pieces of rubber on the linkage to cure it. It quit on me for a while after reinstalling the t-case, but came back. I just hang a work glove on it for the time being and it stops it.

if it's something new. it's probably the input shaft bearing---very prone to failure

This sounds a bit worse than the normal gear rattle. I'm thinking input shaft bearing.
(not much of a guess, that's what usually gets munched)

I ain't no expert, but it sounds like the throw-out bearing to me.

Well guys I wish it was wear just a input shaft bearing but it's much deeper than that. It's on the cluster shaft in the bottom of the case. I have removed the shifter top and bearing carrier for the input shaft but every thing on the top side looks as good as new. After I remove all the top main shaft gears and syros I will fined my problem. It's not looking good I would say every thing on the cluster shaft is gone. I also belive this is were that bad shaking is coming from. I smell an Nv 45oo coming on
