Question I got a ticket and need help

One night comming home from work in a hurry I left a stop sign and was runnin WOT and my turbo was screaming and I just let it go cause I was in a hurry. Next thing I knew there was a cop behind me with his lights on. He thought I was squeeling my tires. My old wore out and abused turbo (previous owner) didn't help much. How do i explain how a bad turbo can cause a loud scream to fix my ticket?

1st gen Hobie;
WELCOME TO DTR
The only thing I could suggest is take the truck to a repudable repair shop and get them to right up a estament for replacement or rebuild of the turbo and present your estament to the judge.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, get your informal hearing set up. Did he see you spinning your wheels? Were there marks? Smoke? Can he swear there were no other vehicles in the area? It is unlikely you spun a dually unless there was gravel or water. Get a mechanic to sign an estimate on fixing the turbo. If they try to cite you for turbo noise, check your local law, but the only law I know of regarding noise invlolves decibles and the tail pipe. If you did it, chalk it up to experience and pay your dues, if not, or if accident, set up the I.H. and tell your story to the magistrate, that's whta they're there for.

Moreso than just an estimate I would get it in writing from the shop that the turbo has a horrible squeal and needs to be replaced... the more specific to the noise the better.

I have tried to get it to whine in neutral but it wont, but while accelerating hard it does. Do i just have the mech do a test drive?
Will a broken speedometer cause any problems here? It stopped around 63k lol. I'm going on vacation for a week w/o the computer and the Cummins. Thanks for all the help so far. This site is great

Many times the decision of "safe" driving is not the operator but he observing police to make the decision. Not much you can do about an agressive cop that feels you were driving too fast. Got a ticket once with a '68 Chrysler that had the air cleaner off. Cop did not like to here the 4bbl sound off. Depends on the cop and his mood. Life sometimes is not fair. Good friend of mine always said "Life sucks, then you die."

One other thing you can do is to change the date of the hearing. In my state, the officer must show up at the hearing. The more you change the date and time of the hearing, there is a chance the officer may not be able to make it. Then show up with all the info about the repair as suggested above. Have a great vacation.

At my first hearing i didn't see the one that gave me the ticket, we just set up a date for the bench trial.
