HX50 upgrades

I am throwing quite a bit of fuel at my engine right now but I was wondering what I could buy for a HX50 single to make it spool a little quicker. I am running New Era 6x18's which aren't in my sig yet. will I be able to spool this turbo which has a 17 c exhaust and 66mm intake?

You could buy a little turbo and use that one as a primary.
Other than that, a p-pump and a 5k gov kit.

I was thinking more in terms of mods to the turbo itself, like bigger/smaller hot side or what. What sort of turbo would make a descent top turbo. In fact, is the HX50 even a big enough turbo to be the bottom in a twin setup?

What does an HX50 come off of? Any chance that would be an 8.3 ISC Cummins turbo and what do most stock 8.3 Cummins run for a turbo?

Most 8.3 run some varient of the HX40. I know that HX52's come off of Volvo engines, they are 67mm inducer with a T4 16cm non gated housing.

The man to talk about HX50's is JrAdkins. I havent heard anything about him for awhile tho. I ran a HX52 like the one i mentioned, with my 6x.016's and a 12mm pump for along while. It didnt light till about 2k but when it lit it lit. It was alot of fun.

Most 8.3's use a HX40 as the stock turbo. I just looked on holsets site and they say the HX50 is for 10+ litre engines.

i don't hink you will need a wg since a 16cm on one of those will flow a lot of air vs a 16 on an h1c

but if you want one they have them on e-bay

I have looked on ebay and haven't found one yet. I am still running stock head studs so I dont want to over boost. I know that the HX50 has enough to pop my head off so if I did w/g it, what would I set it at to be safe?

I doubt you'll even light it. Pro52's spool better and I hear complaints on trucks street driven with them. I can't imagine your experience will be much different.

im not close to being a expert with turbos but would it help spool if you put a exhaust wheel with different angled fins. and for a wastegate would it be a good idea for a 42mm tial wastegate and set it at 42? thats my guess but a stock charger would probably work to spool it. just my 2cents

How good would it work if I made a twin setup with my stock H1C and the HX50 behind it. That might help light it sooner.....no?

i think you can use a third gen turbo over it. its like a 61mm turbo. ask hohn just do a search for him and pm him he is a very respectable source for turbo info. he will know a good setup to run. just ask for his answer to be in idiot form. lol a lot of times i have no idea what he is talking about till i get a dictionary. lol
