HX40 Wastegate

I am putting on a used hx40 on my 91 and it did not come with a wastegate. It is an 8 blade t4 with the 19cm exhaust housing. If I am not running over the limits of the turbo is there a way to just block off the wastegate or am I going to have to buy one?

Thanks.

Also if anyone has put an hx40 on, how did you line up the oil drain line? I got mine on but it leaks because it doesn't line up right.

You can tack weld or wire it shut.

Ive cut the drain back tube and installed a piece hose with two hose clamps to get proper alignment.

With a 19cm exhaust housing, it seems little risk to wire it shut. Now if it was smaller I *MIGHT* go to the effort of getting a working waste-gate, but it would probably depend on what maximum pressure you wanted to see. If you don't want to go over 30 psi a WG is probably called for.
cheers,
Douglas

Ok that's what I will end up doing. I don't even know how a wastegate hooks up to the turbo, but I do understand how it works and what it's for. What exactly do you wire shut? I've already put the turbo on, can you do it without taking it off?
