This Axle the D60F is the MOST sought after OEM unit EVER put into a vehicle by hard core rock crawlers for a reason! They don't just get "shot" with an easy 200K miles and 20 years on ROAD.
Thanks PapeCAT. That's why I want a second opinion. I really didn't see alot of movement in the axle U joints either. There was a little, but not much. Won't they "clunk" like driveshaft U joints if they're worn excessively?

Yes the Ujoints will Clink. But since we have locking hubs and the ujoints aren't spinning all of the time like the newer trucks, the OEM ujoints rarely fail if you do not use 4x4 often! I replaced "clinking" ujoints in my 1989 D61F axle though.

Your kingpin bushings are probably fine as well. An indication that they are bad is if you are getting irregular front tire wear.. that is ALL.

I've never experienced the "death wobble" in the truck. While I've heard you guys mention it from time to time, I'm really not even sure what it is. I guess that's a good thing.

If the RF wheel doesn't spin freely, the caliper might be grabbing slighty.

I thought I'd rebuild the front brakes while I had it apart. That would be fairly inexpensive. Thanks for that tip.

Bill,

As others have said...

If it really bothers you, I'm sure I could scrape up the $500 to take that old rust bucket 1992 off of your hands. It's just a mess, and may cause you lots of expense and grief. Let me have all of that expense and grief, and I'm sure you'll feel a whole lot better.

I'll see you and raise you $200. We don't have enough rusty vehicles here and I'm doing this state a service by bringing bill's truck here to live with me..

You all seem like good guys, I don't have the heart to screw you all over like that. Besides, the way things are going, I could GIVE you the truck and within 6 months you would have more money in it than it's worth. Then you'd be knockin at my door, tellin me what a no good SOB I am for giving you the biggest headache you've ever had.

Bill so did you get a lemon? Why are you not having any issues with the 1993?

Well, I would guess the reason is this. The 93 is just a different animal alltogether. I believe this truck has been garage kept and well kept its whole life. Everywhere you look, body, paint, frame, under the hood, interior, etc. it's in pristine, almost like new condition. Alot of people today treat their trucks like that now. Keep them inside, waxed, strick maintenance routines. Alot of people don't use their trucks (even diesel trucks) as trucks. But when the 93 was new I doubt most people treated trucks like that, but whoever owned this one did. I don't believe the 93 has done a days work in its life. The 92, I have no idea how it was treated, maintained, or what it was used for. It's a great looking truck I think. So I just assumed that if cosmetically it was well taken care of, then it must have also been well taken care of mechanically. Apparently, that just wasn't the case.
