How much weight can the W250 haul?

I have a 91.5 W250 for work. It does not have any overload springs on it just the stock leafs. I was wondering what the max weight you guys would say is safe to load in the back of the truck?

I have to get some loads of river rock and im not sure what the safe margin is. I have loaded 1 ton of river rock before and that didn't even seem to put a load on the truck at all but i don't want to push my luck! But at the same time the least amount of trips i have to make back and forth the happier i would be..

Thank You
Chris

I've had 4800 lbs of dry concrete mix, and a fully loaded toolbox in the back of my w250, she squatted a bit but hauled it no question

I hauled some gravel here a few months back, 2600 and 2900 lb. Personally, I would'nt go over 3000 lb., but the choice of what you can haul safely is up to you.

I had 5720 lbs of scrap iron in mine. More than should have been but it handled it without a problem (still wasn't on the bump stops!). Breaking requires twice the distance so be carefull.

Legally or practically? GVW is only 8,510, truck weighs between 6,200 and 6,800 lbs.

Practically speaking, they get kinda spooky with more than 3k in the bed.

I had 27 10' railroad ties in a 1/2 ton 91 4x4 dodge . It was on the bump stops after tie #12 . I'm not sure but I think I was overloaded .

Thanks Guys. I have about a 10 mile drive each way. Not that far at all but the less time i can be gone from the job the better! (sure is hard to find workers that dont play when the boss is gone)

I have hauled with 2200lbs in the truck but my neighbor has a 91 w250 with overloads and he said that he has hauled 4500lbs of rock in it before. He likes to talk allot so i figured i better ask on here before trying to attempt anything.

So im guessing that i should be okay with a 1 1/2 tons is all i should loadup at one time then?

How much are overloads or is there a better option nowdays?

Chris

Little less than 3k of pavers was the craziest load I can remember... did ok.. but it was a little silly... springs were dfinitely not the limiter. Handling. weight distribution. brakes were all bigger issues than the springs... you can tow a lot more weight than that... get a trailer

Before I had overloads and with 235/85/16s I got a load of 1" rock and it scaled emty 3750 lbs front 2700 lbs rear. When I left it was 4000 lbs front 8000 lbs rear. Yep, it was on the bump stops, a bit sqirmy and not driven over 45 mph. I would not hesitate to haul 4000 in it on a regular basis if loaded properly.
