How much farther back is the long H1c/HX35 turbine housing than the short?

I read anywhere between 1/2" to 1 1/2" I need a more solid number to know if I have enough room.

P.S. H1c/Hx35

I had no clearance issues when I ran a gated HX-35 years back.

Just unbolt the downpipe brace and bend it a bit.

Reinstall after installing the HX35/housing.

When I put my 'HX-35 on my black crew and installed a Diamond Eye 4 inch down pipe at the same time. I had plenty of room on the firewall side.
I did grind and modify my stock down pipe hanger, that bolts to the adapter plate, for the larger down pipe at that time.

I converted my non-wastegated turbo to a wh1c and the standard exhaust pipe had to be moved back some. It is almost touching the rubber cover over the heater A/C but no issues yet. I just drove it from Kansas to CA without anything burning. I don't know what kind of rubber is in that cover but it seems like it can take the heat.

The only other issue I noticed was the pipe is almost touching a frame cross-member when it humps over the rear axle but I'll fix that when I replace the muffler soon because it has none now.

Thanks Edwin.
On mine I will have to modify my down pipe as I don't have the room to move the rest back It is really tight around the transfer case. We shal see how it goes. Hopefully I can put together a turbo with the short housing. If funds allow.

Mark, a few well placed hammer marks will get you what you need around the T-case if needed.

I may end up doing that but it took me two days to get that thing to fit in there so if I can avoid taking it out I will Funny how sometimes the simplest thing can be such a PITA.

Mark,

The long turbo housing is 4 1/2" from the face for the mounting plates to the flange face. Unfortunately, the only short housing I have right now is mounted, but I measured it at 3 1/4". So, the long housing is 1 1/4" longer.

When I had a stock downpipe, I removed the swaged section just before the flange, which I recall was just over an inch, and not quite the full difference.

Thanks Alec,
That's what I was looking for. I am exploring my options Money is tight right now so I put some misc. stuff i can't use on ebay to get Turbo money. I want to do the GDS 14cm short turbine housing but it isn't cheap. the long ones are cheaper. but more work and the consolation prize is a HX35. so no mater I win.
