I have had my head off recently, pistons looked perfect. I always peg my pyro, and have towed at 1300-1350 for 10ish minutes straight with the timing advanced. Food for thought.

My wastegate is in the stock position. Still connected. I did reclock the center section. I have the solenoid hooked up to 12 volt key power, the other wire is grounded to the battery.

On a side note, could be related to the egt problem that truck had. It had some serious blow by. Im about 85% it was from the high egts cause when I got the truck and it was stock it hardly had any. When I sold it it would burn a gallon of oil between oil changes.
A gallon between oil changes? That aint too bad. I heard on Car Talk that Toyota calls anything under a quart per thousand miles acceptable usage. On a new engine.

It will run 32-34 lbs boost. I could go a few turns more on the fuel screw.

If your only hittin that much boost, then I would plug the wastegate off, I'm surprised how well these turbos cool between 30 and 38 lbs. It will run cooler with that wastegate shut. I can hit 40 lbs with mine shut so i just be careful...

Is your head studded. How much boost would you go without?

I run up to 47 before my wastegate opens
No studs - - yet - -

I'll be getting a set soon though because my luck will not hold out forever

I dont have head studs or nothin, haven't even touched the head bolts. I can put a J-hook spring on mine and let the wastegate open off drive pressure if I want, I can adjust it and had it open at about 34, but it cools better with it shut when you have it hammered for a while. I think you'll be safe, I'd shut it and see how high you can get it, if its under 38 you should be fine.

I tried the hose clamp on the boost signal line today. I did get more boost, around 38-40. Gauge seemed to bounce a little. Temp was down, how ever it was very cool, and damp out. Only 66 deg. out instead of 85 and humid. I'm going to get a bigger air filter. Should let more air through.
