How good is the A727 auto trans.?

For example:
I have taken apart a 727 from a 77, A518 out of my 93, 47RH from a 95 and a 47RE out of a 96.
The front planetaries in all of these transmissions will work in any of them, but they are different.
The 77 727 has an aluminum caged 3 pinion planetary.
The A518 has an aluminum caged 4 pinion planetary.
The 47RH has an aluminum caged 5 pinion planetary.
And the 47RE has a steel caged 5 pinion planetary.

Thanks guys. I checked it out on the web; Rovingbenz is right, IH used the Chrysler 727.
I was gonna replace my Getrag, but I like shiftin' too much!

The 727 trans is a 47re without the overdrive unit behind it. Same clutches & steels. The planetaries not as beefy. You can put 47re planets in it. The only weakness to this trans is reverse band. If you get stuck & shift from drive to reverse to many times you will smoke the reverse band.
