An easy thing to do is check your rad fan clutch; it should almost free-wheel when cold otherwise it's wasting fuel. I took mine off and installed an electric fan, which I've found can stay off except for heavy pulling and the odd hill. Also in that area avoid covering your rad to help with cold weather. That used to help before we had coolant thermostats, but now just increases wind drag and can cause overheating if left on during hard pulls.

Make sure your injectors are in good shape, and that your lift pump is up to snuff (if you see <5psi at any time, go ahead and replace it with a low pressure piston pump).
The nonIC trucks have one of the best cam profiles in any 6B for highway applications.
You didnt say, but what are you getting now? If you are seeing 20 or better, I'd leave it alone, unless you know it has done significantly better in the past.
