homebuilt exhaust question
I am kicking around the indea of ditching the single stack and going with a stock exit exhaust. What do you guys think a 4" turbo to t-case then 5" would sound? I want a loud and deep tone to it with minimal drone. I think mufflers are for gassers so i would like to keep that theory when doing this exhaust. ANy other configurations for the sound i want would be welcom. Thanks

I would think 5" from the t-case back should give you that deep sound it sounds like you are looking for, but I suspect it's still gonna drone at highway speeds. I'm runnin 4" from the turbo to behind the passenger rear tire and the drone at 70mph is barley louder than the wind noise with the windows up, with'em down the wind noise is louder, until I stand on it!
If it's too loud your too old.

I have 5" from the t-case out behind wheel and it is not loud really. The gears and reg/ club cab will probably affect it somewhat. I have club cab, 3.55.
It sounds good, just not loud like a 2nd gen.

I took the 4" out to just in front of the rear passenger tire. It is about twelve inches from it. No muffler and a turndown tip. Will the exhaust cause a heating issue with the tire? I am nervous as this will be a tow rig with lots of weight on the axle.

Mine's 5" from the 4"DP to just behind the cab where it goes to a single stack.
Loud in town - not really, as long as I don't jump on the loud pedal.
Loud on the hiway - at 60 you know it there, but it's not a drone, not quite as low toned.
At 75 I must be outrunning the sound 'cause unless I have my windows up and the sliding rear open I really can't hear it over the wind noise.
