The 6 and 8 blade HX40's are the old design wheels. The 7 blade is the most curent design wheel. The exhaust wheel is different on the 7 blade HX40's also.

The late design Super 40's spool just as fast as a HX35. I have been running one for over a year.

Do your EGT temperatures get relatively high with the HX40 and the 6x.018" injectors? If you tow do you see temperatures getting to 1250 degrees or higher or do they stay comfortable? Does seem like a very good turbo for the reason the exhaust/turbine side is bigger then a hybrid H1C.

I have no problems with EGt's. My pump is almost stock settings. Flat out on the floor empty to 90 MPH or so. I only see 1000 EGT's.

I towed a heavy 20' stock trailer with live stock a while back. The max I had on EGT's was 1050. That was on the floor in OD.

I will clarify a few points on my setup. I was running a built auto with a DTT 91% convertor at the time. The spoolup wasn't really laggy, just a slight hesitation that I didn't like. With a stock sloppy convertor, or a looser aftermarket convertor, a bigger turbo will spool faster. I was running PODs at one time with the built pump, and added the HX40 at the same time as the built pump. I have no comparison to my hybrid 35/40 since I changed pumps at the same time as the turbo swap. A tight convertor or a manual trans changes a turbo's spoolup as does altitude.

I'm looking at a 62/65/14 S300 now instead. Went big on injectors, might as well go bigger on turbo too, and I know they flow plenty of air...plus there's always nitrous to spool it...

I hear a 62/68/14 spools like a 65 but flows like a 71. If i'm going to put down the bucks i'd go that route.

ep, if I ever get a new turbo, it'll be either one of those, or a Super 40. JQ, with the 62/65, you'll probably lose some of your top end.
