Holley Blue Pump

hey-Hey!!!,
Looking through the specs on this one and it says w/o the external regulator it is set for 14 psi maximum. Will this make the VE unhappy in any fashion? Seems the regulator isn't needed for Cummins apps. IFF it only gets to 14 psi at the outlet, the fuel filter will drop this a bit. Seems I've read that 15 psi is about the limit for the VE's front seal. In this area, I'd rather be conservative so as to avoid ever having to look at said seal. Their regulator seems to be used for carb applications which don't want too much pressure at the float needle...

It's a bit scary since I have not done it yet... and ov course looking at the 7 psi electrics that will remove all this sort of worry( the IP isn't turned up yet and I may be able to hold off on that for a while yet ).
cheers,
Douglas

I use a holley black with a farm store filter head rigged up to 3/8 line, i get 13-14 all the time, there a little noisey but seem to work great.

Why do you want an electric pump as your main lift-pump ??

Any of the available mechanical pumps are superior for the purpose.

That being said, I do have a CARTER electric installed in a by-pass line that has many uses/advantages and can also immediately be called into action in the unlikely event that the mechanical piston-pump should ever fail.

As for the fuel-pressure, my 3936320 piston-pump holds a steady 15- to 16-PSI across the entire RPM range with no seal problems that I have noticed.

The electric is a far simpler install, and it is ~half the price of the preferred piston lift pump. Add to that the bit of confusion from all the part numbers available to reduce the chances of getting the right one...

Douglas
