HELP! strange rattle when cold!
Hey, Im here asking for help for my dad, He called the other day with a question about his 92, he was wondering if anyone has had any problems with any annoying noises or a strange rattle when the truck is cold... He said it has 30k on it, I hope that this explains it alright, but I can ask him more questions if anyone needs more info! Im new to this! ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

Define cold. In this hemisphere this time of year, there should be no cold rattle. Winter time would be a different story. Tell him to drive it more to get things loosened up. Seriously, sitting can gum and clog up fuel system components, esp injector tips and pump internals.
ALso, does it get better as it warms? What about putting it under load? Does the rattle stay the same, fade, or get more prominent?

Okay, so can you tell I really new at this? Ha! Ha! Well, I didnt type enough zeros for the mileage earlier.... it has 300k miles, Just spoke with my dad and he told me this... "Has been doing this for about 8 months or so, no one can find where the rattle is coming from, and it is progressively getting louder as time goes on, He also said that It happens when the "engine" is cold for about 7-8 miles and til about the temp gauge comes off cold. Only then will the rattle fade. He also said that when in neutral it doesnt seem to be as bad. ANY IDEAS?? Thanks!!
