HELP (Need answer quickly) Auto Tranny Hard Line Question.

Hello Gents,

The hard line in question runs from the passenger side of the engine then turns 90 degrees and runs in front of the tranny pan makes another 90 and runs to the front of the vehicle on the driver side to a small tranny cooler.

Is this line a high pressure line?

It's been rubbing against another line that is right next to it (along the driver side) and has now sprung a leak. I'm thinking of cutting a few inches off the line, flaring the ends and attaching a hose in place with some hose clamps.

I really don't want to cut the line if the rubber hose will not hold.

IF you look up toward the transmission cooler, I believer you will se that there is a length of rubber line already installed. between the metal line and the cooler line. Just my $0.02 but I don't wee why it wouldn't hold.

This is just my opinion and I am NOT an expert on transmissions.

No, the cooler lines are not under high pressure. Decent oil hose and plain old hose clamps will hold up fine.

Rubber should hold, but if you're nervous about it, you said you have a flare tool, just flare both ends and get a connector for the middle.

Guys are right, its not a high pressure line. So hose clamps and hose will work just fine.....

If you can, flare the ends. If you cannot, double clamp the hose.
It takes the pump about 30 seconds to drain the contents if one comes loose.

Make sure you are not cutting a air conditioner hose!! They will have a oily resudue around them at a leak from the oil in the compressor going through the system. be careful ...
