Heater Core?

Whenever I turn on the heater in my truck all of a sudden, white smoke pours through the vents. No visible leaks I can see and I still have heat accompanied with the smoke. It makes sense to me that the heater core would be leaking. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like a leaky core to me Gotta pull the entire heater box to change it, unfortunately.

I'll second that. Expect to spend a day on it.

Snow down the heater intake can cause this as well.

Good point, I think it does smell a little bit, and it fogs the truck up in no time.

Them little slots in front of the windshield hide it. It is the same place that the leaves get into the heater box through.

How would one go about replacing the heater core. I have the cover of the box off that has the blower motor attahced to it, but how do you get to the heater core itself?

The whole heater box has to come out of the cab, so there's quite a lot of disassembly.

Here's the thread from when I had to do mine.

I did my first one in about 6 hours (non A/C) outside in the rain at +40*. Wasn't as bad as it looks. Just take it one step at a time.

BTW I never would have got it out with out reading a FSM.
