I've done it, I think it works, I used up a roll from the flange all the way down
to above the elbow.

What does it help exactly? Heat in the engine bay? Does it quiet in cab noise at all? Forgive the ignorance.. I am just getting back to working on my heap after many years of neglect..

I think my engine compartment is cooler as a result, I can touch the down pipe.
I would assume there would a sound deadening benefit as well.
I mostly did mine for cosmetic reasons.

As far as motor performance there probably isn't any real benefit to wrap post turbo. It will probably help a small amount with heat under the hood. It will look better as well and if you're working on a hot motor you won't burn yourself and maybe some sound deadening but I suspect the benefits end there.

For small, but actual performance gains the best thing to wrap is the manifold and the turbine housing. You should see a small increase in spool, and under hood temps drop quite a lot on a heat soaked motor so you'll have cooler intake air (unless you have a really good cold air intake to begin with). Again, other than not burning yourself, the gains end there. When the manifold and turbine housings are wrapped it takes longer for idle down time too tho. I have had my manifold and turbine housing blankets for 2 years and so far so good. I have the stuff to do the downpipe as well but I haven't bothered in the nearly full year I've had the stuff to wrap the downpipe.

I put 50' on my downpipe. Im not sure if it helped or not. Far as sound goes its prolly about the same cept theres no exhaust leak.

I wrapped it so the heater box would stay cooler/ not melt.

It will help with heat in engine bay, and noise.
My exhaust exits out the side of truck just rear
of door, helped with noise in cab.

only took a couple of hours to remove, wrap and re-install the downtube.. i feel like there was a small reduction of in cab noise.. Happy I did it.

Little update here. Since I have it and my motor is out I will be wrapping my DP but I have had the turbo and manifold wrapped for 2 years. When I took everything apart on the weekend it still looked pretty good. Most of the paint has come off the manifold and turbo but otherwise everything looks good. I honestly wonder if the manifold and turbo blankets are better for the metal. The metal will cool down slower which is generally better on it. Less likely to crack or warp etc.

I put the 3 piece ats manifold on when I rebuilt the engine.. should have wrapped it then but I didnt even know that was an option at the time... the black paint it came with has now disappeared and it has a rust finish now.. along with the exhaust side of the turbo.... Eventually I will r&r these parts, paint and wrap them. thank you for the input.

Well they have a rust hue to them now don't get me wrong but I honestly don't care seeing as how the wrap covers them. I also port matched my manifold and turbo. So hopefully that makes some sort of a difference.
