How does the Head Rest come off a 1990 Bench seat?

where the rods for the headrest go into the seat, theres little plastic peices.

one of the plastic peices has a button on the side you push and then pull up the headrest.

hard to explain. if the headrest is all the way down you'll have to dig your hand under the headrest to find the plastic peices.

Pulled the Head Rest up and can see the plastic, but no button.
When I pushed the material on the seat down around the plastic I can see
a coil spring around the plastic in a grove?
Could it be some kind of locking device?

all the ones i've seen have buttons.

just try yanking up on the headrest, maybe it doesn't have a button and it just slides up and out.
