head gasket woes

hey guys. havent been on in awhile. hope everything is good with you all.

so for awhile now ive been thinking my headgasket is going south.
no milkshake but i think im blowing compression into the cooling system. if i boost too hard my radiator hoses become very hard and i end up blowing all my coolant out into the over flow bucket.

has anyone else experienced this? has anyone tried to torque the headbolts down before deciding to install a new head gasket?

FYI as you can see in my sig my truck is a non-IC with the pump maxed out, fuel pin cut, BAHF and 3.5" exhaust. i also have a stock turbo and i can push about 36psi give or take a few psi depending on air temp.

thanks alot for any help. PS!!! anyone have the part number for the .020 over factory cummins headset?

You can try a retorque but it may not work. Head gasket time.

Is it a fresh head gasket or an old one? I did a retorque on one I blew and it sealed back up, but it was less than 2 years old too.

That is EXACTLY what happened with my Rig. As I was pulling Head bollts, I started seeing soot on some, not good! The gasket hed been leaking combustion gasses past the gaskets compression rings in the last two Cylinders for what I would assume was a substantial period of time. No Coolant loss, no Coolant in the Oil, no Oil in the Coolant. It finally started blowing coolant out of the recovery bottle on my way home from the last trip. When my Coolant temp dropped from 180 to 165 I knew I had lost coolant.

Put a gasket on it, KNOW you have done it right. Retorquing the bolts MAY buy you a little time, but it is not a "repair". My 2 cents

Oh, and when you get that shiny new gasket from your friendly Cummins dealer, don't be shocked when ir reads "MADE IN CHINA"

China is going to the Moon? Would you ride in a rocket that was "MADE IN CHINA"?
