head gasket replacement

I'm replacing my head gasket and curious if i should copper coat it. We used to copper coat all our race car head gaskets.

No need to copper coat it. Are you using a Cummins gasket?

Has there been known problems useing felpro permatorque head gaskets on these engines?

The Felpro's have a bad rep on mos diesel sites I've seen. Most recommend the Cummins gasket only. Comparing pics of the 2 side-by-side, the sealing beads on the Cummins are much larger.

The updated Felpro gasket is identical to the cummins one, in fact it's been said that Felpro is the manufacturer of the Cummins gaskets.

I watched that video a lil while back ...was pretty interesting.I did a some research on this felpro gaskt and found the old style gaskt#9332pt and the new improved gasket that looks just like the cummins unit is # 9313pt should retail at about $65.00

He put the copper on even though he said it wasn't necessary.

Wish I'd seen these before I started putting mine back together, some good tips. Hope to get mine buttoned up by the weekend. Then I'll see what all I messed up on...
