Head gasket blown?
Hey Guys
I posted last week about issues I was having with my truck missing on a cylinder or two and it was suggested that i check my valves. did that and the number three exhaust valve was way too tight, re adjusted and webt to start it and got a nice loud popping or backfiring through the intake . so I shut it off and rechecked all the valves and they were all correct.
so question? what are my possible problems?
Head gasket leaking between cylinders, injection pump, injectors
thanks Jesse

That is exactly what mine did, HEAD GASKET TIME, I used the thick one, .5mm thicker than stoc, You will also need new sealing washers for the injectors. I reused the old bolts, But all new ones will only set you back $100.00 or less. Jog took 11 man hours, Did not send head out, just off and back on. You will need a helper to lift the head off, and to replace, I had a great helper who was able to attach lots of stuff while i did the same,
All in all, not too hard, You are blowing gasses between cylinders.
Peter.

Check it for flatness as well as the block deck.
Head- No more than 0.0004" out of flat in any 2" diameter area, and no more than 0.012" over the total length or width.
Block deck- Same as head except total cannot exceed 0.003".

If you don't have an accurate way to check the head, find a good machine shop in your area that does diesel work and have them check it out for you. I called three or four different places before I found one that I was comfortable with.
