Yes, 120,000 miles. KDP Pin was located in the front timing cover where it was sticking half way out. No damage to the gear housing.

I bought mine with about 200K on it. Pulled the vaccum pump to do the seals and found that the KDP had fallen out. When it did, it bent the drive gear. The PO had no idead it had fallen out.

What does the KDP sound like when it comes out? Years ago I was sitting in a parking lot idling when I started hearing this jack hammering sound. I looked around and didn't see any equipment around so I shut her off. My wife said it was the truck. I popped the hood and thought I saw a wisp of smoke. I restarted and everything seemed fine - no noise, no leaks. That was years ago.
It does make me wonder though!!

I checked mine and it had moved out about 3/16"
Knocked it back in and peened the hole and installed a tab made from
a piece of coat hanger.

Killer Timing Cover Bolt- I am guessing-.. the bolts can sometimes work loose and cause the same damage as the dowel pin..have heard of people finding them loose, but havent heard anyone say they had damage because of one

Thats it exactly, Form what I hear you can survive the KDP, but at least one of the cover bolts will break the cam, due to its placement above the gears.
