BigBully,
Do you have the turbo from the 93 donor truck? If so, it shoud be a holset h1c. What size exhaust housing are you running? Stock housing should be 18 cm, I believe. What are your boost #'s? Having some of these facts in your sig will help myself and others reply more effectively.

Yes it is the Stock Turbo Its a 93CTD. At Cruise (70mph) i show about 7 or 8 pounds of boost. If I mash it It Pegs the 35 pound Gauge with Athourity. I think the Housing is an 18. It has a Very Bad Flutter (Surge) when I get into the throttle. It sounds Terrible Like the thing is Going to come apart. I was told the only way to fix it was to get a Turbo off of a Later Model Like a 95 or 96. I would be willing to try that If I could Find one. I have a SNow Water/Meth Stage II injection kit that I am trying to Trade for a Turbo but no Luck yet.

A '94 turbo works nice too...
I think the cheapest and best thing to do is call up HTT and get their stage 3 compressor upgrade for your current H1C. Costs around $200, you get a bigger compressor with a wider map, this will cure your surging and lower your EGT. With the fuel you've got flowing through that thing the 18 cm housing isn't a bad choice.

Yes that is a wastegated housing. He drilled a hole through the middle of the divided housing to reduce his overall boost to keep his turbo in its efficiency map. He was over spooling it causing bad or hot boost which is not very good, it raises the egt's. I was about to do that mod to my HX40 because I was going way out of the map. Now that I have twins I have both turbo's right in the middle of the map.

I have no answer for your question about the turbo that you have. You might call holset and see what the application is for or send them an e-mail.

I still love my HTT turbo. they took my H1C and machined out the fresh air side to take an HX40 wheel, and ran the 16 exhaust housing. No chirp or bark, I saw 44 PSI one late night when it was 10 degrees out
good luck

Question time to begin

Hi, I have a 90' 4x4 3/4 ton. It has 196,000 on it..I have a bigger trailer now to tow and would like some advice on where to start, to gain a little more power. I'm not looking for a fire breathing monster, or killing my fuel mileage. I just want to know what is relatively cheap, and effective.I can then work my way up as needed.I'm new here so be gentle!!Thanks

JetMech - Welcome to DTR! Hang onto your wallet! Start with gauges, a pyrometer and a boost gauge are recommended, along with trans temp if you don't row your own gears. Next, head over to the pump tuning FAQ in the section.

BB, there's a Snow kit just like yours sitting on my bench. Just waiting for it to stop raining.

I think you might want to hang on yours and put it on the truck, 200 degree EGT drops are nothing to sneeze at.
