H1C turbo size ID?

Okay, I've done my best reading past threads but I still haven't figured out how to ID my H1C turbo's size, as 12, 16, 18 or what? Problem is it's a 4BT so Holset application is more of a mystery. No numbers that I see. Whole front end is off the truck [conversion] so it sems like a good time for poking around: is there some way to measure something or what would positively ID the size here? Any ideas? Thanks!

BTW would the CPL somehow ID it and who would have that info from CPL applications? Thanks again......

I think that the cpl ## would get you a new turbo but i don't think that thy could tell you what ex housing it has!

on the back side of the ex housing, of the turbo there is a #
it on the outer round side of the turbo facinng the fire wall and just below the line of the ex manifold!
It may take some cleaning to find it but it's there. also it is a cast in # if it's a original or a holset housing!

Yes, a pic would help, if you can. Also, the engine serial number can get you a long ways at your local Cummins dealer

Hi guys!
Yea, that's sorta what I expected on the CPL # not helping much.

Okay, I'll try to get a pic tomorrow. I looked all over it but then too I didn't know exactly where to look or what I was looking for. Story of my life. May even try to get a flash shot tonight if possible. Thanks!

Well, got 4 pics but according to the note at the bottom of the reply posting window I'm not allowed to post attachments. Maybe I'll check out the member pics gallery and see if I can do something there....?

Okay, those were some intersting hoops to leap through! I now have Member Photos posted somewhere, not sure where, and in these are 3 pics of the Holset mystery turbo. Now I'll go look for the pics myself to see how they came out. They're 320 X 240 sized but didn't know what's normally used here....

Didn't see any in your gallery. Make sure the pics are 500kb or under in size or they wont load.

Thanks 90firstgen!

I'm new around here and the whole picture thing was a mystery to me. I thought I was uploading to my own Member Gallery but can't even find such a thing!? Searched around the pictures forum but can't find them under my name or under the keywords I used, but now I'm even forgetting what those keywords were. I thought the keywords were 4BT Turbo or Holset H1C 4BT or somesuch but now totally confused. That's nothing new. They're here somewhere because they were accepted and uploaded. Hmmmm......!

Never did find the pics. I got a message that they were successfully uploaded when I did it but who knows?

I searched for H1C pics and found some. My turbo's compressor housing on the air side is WAY smaller than the one in the pic at the link:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...H1C&perpage=12

There's the stainless clamp between the 2 housings and from the outer edge of that clamp to the outer edge of compressor housing is about 18mm. The exhaust housing seems quite small too. On the Holset ID tag it gives Assembly Number 3528918.

Allright, thanks to Flashgordon for assistance! The 4BT's Holset H1C turbo photos are now posted in my Member Photos Gallery! Thanks Flashgordon!!

The pic with the ruler was intended to show that the compressor housing OD is about 6 3/4" and exhaust housing is about 5 1/2" OD. Holset H1C, Assembly #3528918, 3" air inlet & 3" exhaust. Not bad considering it's feeding and exhausting 4 cylinders instead of 6? That's equivalent to a 4.5" intake and exhaust on a 6BT.

Don't know what's going on! I followed directions, uploaded pictures, pictures were accepted, I looked at the pictures that were accepted, they were in the gallery under my name, and now they're gone.

I've only got so much brains and this really shouldn't be that hard. Haven't got a clue.

Found the problem with pics

That was the problem: DUMMY! I didn't see the button at the bottom of the page showing pics: 'PROCESS'. Duh....

If approved they should be available shortly, unless I missed another button or something? Thanks for the support flash & 90firstgen!
