H1C maximum HP

What's the max HP can a stock H1C handle, with a fully tuned IP, intercooler, exhaust and appropriate injectors? And still maintain sub 1300F egts?

200hp ish, that's my guess.

I assume this is in your motor home? If I was you and wanted more power/lower egt I would honestly jump right to a small set of compounds.

I wish. I don't have room in the doghouse. Maybe two smallER turbos? Is there a turbo smaller than H1C? Maybe 2 of them will fit. All I want is 250HP, if I'm not there already. I've been looking or a local place to dyno my motorhome, before and after I put a new torque converter.

There are smaller turbos than the H1C but it would be more effort than worth. You would be better off going to a s300 that fits in place of what you have but has much more capability for air volume.

If the H1C makes 850cfm, maybe two smaller 600cfm turbos will fit the bill.

Is the housing physically bigger than the stock H1C housing? I cant fit a bigger housing in there.

I made 301rwhp...with a lock-up converter and more timing I would say 350-ish would be possible. As for EGT, if you don't like what you're seeing, let off a bit

Same size as stock.

Whats the weight of your MH?

Are you using the 93 18.5cm exhaust housing?

School buses are using a larger E.H. to keep the EGTs lower.

The 92 CTD uses a larger E.H. also something like 20cm or 22cm.

I think if you where to get both the 60mm & the 92 EH you'll see a big improvement on your EGTs

That's good to know. All I want is 250. I prefer keeping / preserving the stock turbo. I already have lockup converter and lots of timing. I have no complaints with the current egts. I suspect I'm already there around 250. I just need to dyno it.

Mh is 12000 lbs. Yes Im using he 93 18.5.

Would using a bigger E.H. affect turbo spool?

Before I make turbo mods I'll have it dyno'd first.

Air side, the 60mm wheel and housing are a direct replacement, fit in the same place the stock 52 or 54 was. Of course it's about 1/4" larger, but you'd have to measure it to see it.

Exhaust side, trade off is quicker spooling for higher back pressure. (EGT) Unless yer drag racing the motor home, bigger would probably be better.

I was reading a writeup of the GDS 60mm upgrade and it looks like the 60mm wheel just slips into where the 54 was. How is that so? Is the clearance/gap that big that the bigger wheel still fits without scraping?

Nope, the kit is the wheel and the housing. Both parts fit where the old parts were. Externally, the housing fits the clamps and lines up with the piping. Parts are all Holset.

I have one within 5 feet of me going on my truck in the next coupla days.

They usually recommend that if yer turbo has some hours on it, you go ahead and throw a rebuild kit in it at the same time.
