H1C, HX35W, HY35... Hybrid??
Alright folks. I got three turbos sitting here nect to me:
H1C with an 18 cm exhaust housing
HX35W with an 12 Wastegated exhaust housing
HY35 with a wastegated exhaust housing unknown size.(its factory)
What would be the best everyday, trailering, power, turbo. Is there some kind of hybrid to make from them? Thanks

Id vote for the HX35/12 for spool up and drivability.
but you might also keep your ears to the ground for some other options:
We had our hydrid hx35/40 in my old 91 scatter and in shopping around went a little off the beaten path. it was a HX35 w/ the hx40 60mm wheel with a 14cm WG housing 4" exhaust POD's & gov spring kit we had a 93 intercooler on it since the truck was a non intercooled and the hybrid worked well but we were looking at $$$$ to get a new one and in the first place it wasnt cheap.
Found a dodge 05 eletronic WG turbo. he351 which comes with a 60mm wheel.... removed the eletronic WG. plugged the hole tapped it for 1/8 npt and put a standard adjustable elbow in. adjusted to have the WG open at 38 psi. cheapest best mod i ever did to my 91. provided same cooling for EGT's noticed slightly lower cruising egts and the same WOT egts while pulling a load, better spool up. for the money it was hard to beat i had to order a down pipe so that was $110 bought the turbo for $300 boost elbow for $25 and a couple of gaskets for $20. i also had a little triming on the intercooler tube but all said and done for less than $500 i had a turbo that kept my truck happy jsut as well as my old hybrid..... and made the drivability a little snappier. i was pretty happy with the results and doubt i would ever spend the money on a hybrid with this option available.
plus i sold the hybrid and picked up some of the cost. so really the mod cost me $250 since i got $250 for that core rebuildable hybrid turbo

I would definatly go with the HX35W 12cm. The HY35 if I'm not mistaken are a 9cm exhaust housing which is way to restrictive. Go to Gillette I think mine cost me around 260-280.

Thanks thats what i was looking for.
Joe, here is a link to gillette's website. They sell the compressor and wheel upgrade for turbos. I would also think that the hx35-12 with the compressor upgrade would be your best bet.

Depends on the model. the later model 03+ housing is not too restrictive several members on the board have tested the later 03+ hy's on earlier trucks 12v's etc (myself included) and had good rivability and good drive pressure results. For the most part the early HY35's 99-02 are very restrictive though

04.5 and up 5.9s use the he351 with 60mm compressor. I have one and its going on my 93 when I have some time off. I has to weld the electronic wastegate hole shut and I will also have to weld a relocation bracket for the wastegate.
The turbo can be reclocked so it almost matches up with the stock intercooler pipe. It also has a true 4inch outlet on it.
