Guage Cluster Short - blowing the fuse !?!?!

The fuse for my guages has started blowing. If I even touch the fuse to its socket in the fuse panel.... POP.

My temp guage, which has always been jumpy and erratic, got a lot more jumpy and erratic in the day or so before this problem started, and also started going all the way to the HOT end, which it's never done before.

I obviously have a short, and I'm thinking maybe the water temperature seding unit??? Does this seem to make sense? Can anyone tell me where that is, so I can unplug it to check? Any other ideas?

Thanks,
CR

The water temp sender is hiding down on the underside of the head/manifold back past the fuel filter. That fuse also runs the brake light circuit.
