Should i remove the top of the pump? I'm just putting the WD-40 down the fuel inlet............

Nah you'll probly be fine spraying into the fuel inlet. I don't know why I didn't just do that to begin with.

Or you could just put it in a can and cover it with diesel.I bet it would stay lubricated then.
