Yeah, I knew I would forget something. They were also used in the 2300 series combines. I was kinda surprised when I found out that I could bolt up a turbo from one of our tractors onto my truck.

I dont think an 8.3 would be a big deal, because i dont think there is much aftermarket performance goodies for them. The 5.9 has tons.

you can crank an 8.3, as far as the pump, there are bigger injectors for them, you may have to look at marine applications, you can always upgrade the turbo.
As far as getting power, just by cranking the pump you should be able to get 500HP and around 1200ft/lbs I would think.

I called up the junk yard and asked how much they wanted for the turbo and intercooler, and they want a crazy $350!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing at a junk yard should be that much.

Thats really probably not a bad price at all for an HX40, and a massive intercooler.

Its not an HX40. I think an HX40 would fit inside this thing. LOL Its got a 3.5" outlet and 5.5" inlet on the compressor.
