Getting Ready for 5er Trip - Turned the Fuel Pin, Etc.
Couldn't stand it. New air filter and fuel filter yielded no extra power whatsoever. Started reading up. Turned the starwheel clockwise a full turn, took .050" off the nylon washer, turned the diaphragm pin clockwise about 100 degrees and moved the throttle linkage to the "other" shorter stroke hole. Made some noticeable improvement. Boost seems much quicker, gained about 1 psi (18 max), and EGT went up about 50 degrees (1000 max) at full load. Doubt if I picked up that 40HP that DennyT advertizes with their pin but it does run better. Without turning up the smoke and fuel screws and changing out the governor spring, this is about what to expect right? And how DOES that plastic cap on the full power adjustment screw come off? Do you just bap it with a screwdriver? Does anybody ever put it back on? Thanks, H.

that cap can be a pain sometimes,
another thing to do is back out the throttle limiter screw
I pointed an arrow to it in this picture below
1. Remove the protective cap off the end
2. Loosen up both 10mm Jamnuts
3. Get a flatblade screw driver and proceed to back the screw out.
4. After every couple turns grab the throttle assembly on top the pump, and rotate it to WOT, notice the little "nib" that comes nearly in contact with the fuel line on the front of the pump.
5. Proceed to back the "throttle limiter" screw out until the "Nib" on the throttle assembly is close to making contact with the fuel line, however do not let it make contact as over time this will wear a spot through on the fuel line everytime you go Wide open throttle.....
Also, I'd advance the timing a little bit. It makes a big difference
in mid range and top end power
