Gettin' Dirty

Had a leak on a Dana 70 rear so I did new seals, shoes, and cylinders. One side had leaky brake fluid and the other gear oil. What a mess but somebody had to do it....The emergency brake cable was broken and had flipped up and was wearing on the hub and cut it into a taper and cut the metal part of the seal in many parts. Luck was on my side as the bearings were fine but running on oil fumes. I don't know where it all went so fast.

I did find something neat. For a seal driver I used a PVC pipe coupler for about a 3.5" inch pipe. It fit perfectly.

Letting the silicone dry tonight and fill it back up on Friday.

Glad you caught it before you spun the bearings on the spindle. That runs into money...
