Hi All,

Coming home tonight my trans was in 5th gear and all of a sudden it was not working. 5th gear got me home, but I had no other gears. There was no unusual noise or anything, just no gears except 4th. Now, it will not move even in 4th. I have no idea, and any sugestions will be appreciated.

Sounds like the shifter part of the tranny is worn out and when you pulled the shifter out of 5th, the shift fork stayed in 5th, therefore you only had 5th gear.

Put the shifter back into 5th, then push the shift lever to the passenger side of the truck and the pull down and hopefully it will come out of 5th.

I now have no gears. I can shift into any gear and let out the clutch with nothing happening.

Well, at least you got it in neutral now.

The trans is going to have to come out and the toploader will have to be fixed. The rails or the shifter (or both) are worn out.

Thanks for that. I guess I knew I would have to pull it out, But I only have 383000+ miles on it and the clutch. I would think that it should still be under warranty,HA HA. I appreciate all of you great folks on this forum. You are all great folks, and I have learned a lot.
