hello while working on my transmission I noticed that the conical shift lever spring is broken. According to the dealer spring is non-serviceable. The forks and rails look good I dont want to spend the money on a cover if I don't have to, Doese any one know where I can get a spring ? any help would be appreciated thanks.

I'd check with Standard Transmission or Blumenthals. They sometimes have hard-to-find parts or used components.

I was in the same boat when I rebuilt mine. I got mine from Transparts warehouse. They only had a used one at the time. I got it for 8.00 plus 9.35 for shipping. Blumenthals has them as well. They wanted 12.50 plus 22.00 for UPS ground. I could not bring myself to pay that much for ground shipping on that spring and gave the guy the run down on why they won't get my bussiness. Transparts did me well on parts for my getrag rebuild but I just may have took their only used spring. The dealer only sell remmaned top covers 450.00 was the price when I checked. They can be had at other places for 200-250. Let us know what you find.

After many phone calls I was able to locate a spring at Mack's Standard Transmission, INC.. I did try Standard Transmission and Blumenthals They just laughed and said good luck they. All the places I called said that the parts for these transmission are drying up.

if i pull the top cover off my getrag just to check things out what problems can i run into? since im in the middle of a 5 speed conversion i thought i might check it out?
