Poppin out of 5th
I ahs that happen years ago and I had to have to my trans rebuilt. I believe the reason they gave me for it popping out of 5th was the syncros were worn

Its probably the shift tower worn due to not moving the shifter in and out of 5th straight. So you can buy reman towers, or try to disassemble and repair yourself.

only if you cut a big hole in it, these trucks dont have a removeable trans tunnel but you can make one

Yep, no removable floor panel... Not hard to make a getrag access hole though! My 92 gained one last winter due to a 3/4 shift fork failure.

so the popping out if gear is more to do with a shift fork, then with the slider gear? that would make my life alot better. my front bearings get noisy, i think its time to change the fluid n make sure its got 2 xtra quarts too. well heres a link i found for parts

Usually it's the synchros making it pop out.
1 extra quart.
There are several ways to get it in. Remove shifter, or through one of the PTO cover bolts, or installing an elbow in the fill hole.

big stinky... thats what i started thinkin after doin alot of readin? do you know if there tapered bearing? and i guess u use shims on one of the end caps to adjust the preload? do u know if its on the front of back of the tranny. i was thinkni of pullin the shims n tightening the preload to get it through the weekend. then of course fixxin it right after the big pull

Yes the shims are on the back under the rear adapter housing. With used bearings pre-load should be 0.00". New bearings should be .004-.006"
