Get this thing street legal?

What do you think it would take to get this thing on the road? Is it worth it?

You probobly have to lengthen the frame in order to accept a bed and it looks like it might need some other things. I don't know if it's worth it or not. Depends on how much time you have on your hands to work on it.

As long as it could pass a state safety inspection there shouldn't be a problem. They say its not legal to cover their liability would be my guess.

You'd also probably need a new rear axle or at the very least new rear end gears.

I can imagine that thing would have some extreme rear end gears, wouldn't it?

Bet it could be a sweet setup for pulling a 5th wheel. Low hrs on the cummins too!

Those tugs don't have very street friendly gears...think over 6:1 or deeper. You'd have to run 40'' rubber to do 60mph. The real issue is the short wheelbase. If you could get it up to speed, it would be horribly unstable with the tendancy to spin like a toy top on the front bumper...of course, I still want one!

this isn't very relevant, but a friend of mine say if you thump the throttle just right you can pop the front wheel off the ground (he's army reserves at and AFB) actually said he snapped a front spring messing around like that, lol. (can't veryify if it can actually be done though)

If ya put a front end under that thing and made it 4x4 it would be pretty sweet off road with that really short wheelbase!!

Do those things even have a rear suspension?

I would only buy one of them as a donor, as was said before it's just too dang short.

edit: The hours are nice and low. It would make a good donor rig.

I was thinking more along the lines of a 4link rear end...
