I just installed one, wasn't to tough. Be sure you get the 90 degree speedo adapter if you have a regular cab. Also a deep sump is a good investment.

It is not part of the standard kit but they knew i would need it so they may have included it.

Also be sure to get the right speedo gear for your gear ratio. You cannot change the speedo gear with the GV installed, it has to be pulled off.

that 90* adapter is short lived, i did two, and ended up shimming the tank to allow the th 400 straight out adapter, much more dependable, no speedo/no overdrive.

I did mine 4 years ago and I had to do the adapter for the tank, but the install is not to bad. Well worth the money and good choice. Good luck with it and let us know if you have any questions.

Well it came today and I got most of the mechanical stuff done, except the right angle speedo drive does not fit between the fuel tank. They had to build me a low profile one and overnight it.
Question (because I dont want to wait 3 hours for them to open in the AM).
The yoke, does it go all the way in or do you leave some play like a slip joint. I want to get started on the drive shaft ASAP tomorrow.

The yoke should be a bolt on yes? All the way in. My right angle speedo just touches the tank, i had to have it installed on the OD before putting the unit in place.

The slip in the shaft comes from your stock slip spline in the middle of the shaft VS slip yoke design.

Just got off the phone with GV (open late i guess) they said the drive shaft is fixed at each end and the slip is in the yoke that slides into the GV unit. He said push it in all the way measure the drive line lenth and subtract 5/8 of an inch. Doesnt sound like much.

Great! Still kicking, I think I have about 30k on the unit and it doesn't skip a beat! I got my buddy to get one for his first gen and he loves his as well. How is everything?
