Fuel tank sending unit.
Well, I found my air leak, the fuel sending unit in the tank is cracked, so it's sucking air instead of fuel. BLAH . Why'd they make them out of plastic anyways? Now none of the dealers carry it, nor any of the autoparts stores I tried. Does anyone know where I can find one? If not then I'm putting a fuel cell in it, and redoing all the lines, I'm sick of messing with this, I thought the 12 valve fuel systems were supposed to be simple? lol. I WANT MY TRUCK BACK! please help.
BTW it's the 1990 w350 I'm talking about, with the midship tank.

I haven't had a 90 tank apart yet but mine has the plastic tube coiled around from the pick up screen to the bulkhead. I used a piece of gas hose to repair mine. With all the mods you have done you should be able to make a stand pipe to replace the whole works. Make sure you use a fuel pickup sock on the stand pipe or an inline filter before the pump. I think an early 80's Chevy uses a 3/8 stand pipe and sock in their tanks or maybe it is the late 80's Ford IDI diesels. A "good" parts counter man should be able to look one up for you. Good luck

All the tanks are already bottom feeders already. The "fuel pump" module (don't ask why, that is just what they call it) has the fuel pickup in the very bottom of the tank. The whole assy. is spring loaded to work in any of the tanks. Apparently, the old gas trucks used a very similiar setup and had an electric fuel pump mounted in there.
You can use a bulkhead fitting and fashion a pickup tube. The part is also available through the dealer. That is the only place to get it though. No dealer is goign to stock it but they can order them. At least they could earlier this year.
No matter what you do, be careful getting those hose fittings off the flimsy/brittle plastic tubes. You could easily make matters worse than they already are. Been there, done that.

Well, the pickup is what I was trying to get, the whole module, or any form of it, but i was told by the dealer and everyone else that noone could get it. So I bought a fuel cell from Jegs, nice pretty powercoat black, so WHEN it warms up, I'll just do it that way, new steel line all the way up, with the tank where the spare tire would be. Anybody need a saddle tank? lol.
