fuel pin & gov. spring

Ok, guys, just received my new Denny T fuel pin in the mail today. Got the 366 spring last week. I read thru the article in the sticky and also have a step by step with pics. from one of the diesel magizines, still a little nervous about doing this. I can tear apart a gas engine and put it back together maybe not blindfolded but in a fairly dark room but I don't know squat about an injection pump!! Any words of wisdom ? Thanks.

Drop the throttle linkage bracket before you do anything else.

Loosen up the pump and pull it away from the engine (retarded) as far as possible for better access.

Keep your finger on the "top hat" at all times.

Ok, so pivoting the pump is what changes the timing ? Then I should mark where it's at before I start, right ?

Yes, that would be a good idea. Might want to put it back about 1/8" closer to the head when you're done.

1/8 closer to the head will advance it. What will that do for performance and fuel mileage ? This truck gets 21.5 mpg at highway speed now.

Better mileage and top end power. You may not like the bottom end response if you still have the 21 cm turbine housing.

The governor spring is pretty straight forward, just take you time and make sure not to lose the "top hat". Also make sure you make a note of where your throttle shaft is indexed at. I have seen a lot of people have issue's with getting it back together indexed wrong. It's not hard to do right, it's just easy to make a small mistake.

make sure you screw out the full load screw, mark it then reinstall it when your pump top is on. dont mess around with the wire and pullin that lever. you will break the lever if it hits the case under spring preasure or if you leave the screw in and screw the top down on top of the lever and break it. that lever is 400 bucks from boshe. ive had the pleasure of buying one, and a 1000$ pump
