Fuel Mileage

Highway at 70 I get 18.5. Urban driving gets me 14.5 mpg. Now that I live in the country I routinely get 20 mpg, because most of my driving is 50-55 mph in 5th gear. Mods are in my sig.

On a long drive i will get up to 24mpg on the freeway and local high ways and 19 to 20 mpg around town and 16mpg if i am putting my foot in to it. The best MPG my dad ever got on a long drive was 26.5, but he babied the truck when he wasn't hauling feed all over Oregon for EZN-A_BAC

I have been consistently getting 21-22 with mixed city and highway driving. Was expecting it to drop a bit when I put the big ddp's in but it has stayed the same. I hammer on it once in a while but most of the time I drive like an old man. Have seen as high as 24.5 on a road trip at 65 mph. Lowest mileage ever was 17 and that was the first tank after I bought it and it was in need of fuel and air filters.
Hey Ben, bets its nice to be able to say you get 22-24 in 5th OVER I want a gear vendors now....

I bought my truck new in Jan of 1993. Since then I have tracked mileage and every drop of fuel I've put in it. My overall mileage for over 222,000 miles has been 18.54 under all conditions - city, freeway and towing. My best was 25.16 at speeds of 55 mph on back country roads. I still see 21 to 22 mpg at a steady 65 mph on Interstates with my current mods.

18.5mpg on the highway doing 67-70 in the dually with the slush box tranny with 3.54's. The injectors helped a bit (maybe 2mpg avg)! Still get 17 or so even when getting after her once in awhile. Maine driving is all ideal highway driving though (45-55mph)
Never lower than 18 or so in the utility truck. Usually 19.5-21mpg with 3.07's and a 3 spd. Like I said, mostly ideal, 45-55mph driving conditions.

You have to remember, they detuned these engines from the factory to install in the ram trucks. Detune and you lower the volumetric efficiency, which in turn means lower mileage, that is why a simple timing bump can produce 1-2.5 mpg better. Of course if you have a lead foot that all goes out the window

I get anywhere from 13-16 mpg with the trailer and about 18.5 mpg empty cruising 65-70, over 70 and the mpg goes way down. No timing bump yet for me, I am anxious to see what the difference is after the bump.
