fuel gauge

Was driving down the road the other day after a fill up and the fuel gauge would wander from full the 1/2 and back up to the full level in a jerky movement. Any suggestions? Seems like the float must be leaking and starting to sink in the fuel tank? Is this something thats easy to fix? Changed one in a car before and it was easy. Anyone done one?

thanx
brad

Re:fuel gauge

Seems like the sending units in our trucks are pretty bad about going out. No problem getting to it, just drop the tank or lift the bed. Do a search about sending units. There was some discussion a while back about a fix instead of buying new. Mine is the same way, just drive on the odometer.
Ed
