Fuel Filter Fleetguard?
The nipple in the "water in fuel sensor" is leaking to all hell and is corroded inside. I'd like to buy the longer fleetguard fuel filter that is capped ( doesn't have plug slot for sensor ) but I need reassurance on which one is capped and which isn't. Is the Fleetguard FS1221 the one I'm seeking? Thanks

FleetGuard FS1221 is longer than the original and has an integral drain-valve, meaning each new filter has it's own new drain made onto the filter base.
They have no provision for the water-in-fuel light, which I have little faith in anyways; from what I have seen, the filter would need be near full of water before the light lit anyway.
I have been using the FS1221 and nothing else on my four engines for quite some time with no issues.

Fs1221 is not a very common filter from what I've gathered. Cummins generally has them in stock but anyone else, you have to order it. Baldwin BF1221 is never in stock at my local Baldwin distributor. I just have them order me some in advance, keep my own stock of them.

Thanks to me, Scheids now stocks the FleetGuard.
FilterBarn has it.
From my research, if memory serves me, the Baldwin of the same number is somewhat shorter in length, but otherwise the same.

If you don't use the water in fuel sensor, does it make the light on the dash come on? I like the idea of having a longer filter and its own drain but would probably get annoyed by the light being on. If there is a bypass for the WIF sensor That would be cool!

Looks like a dual filter head mounted under the cylinder head instead of a fuel heater. Parts necessary are the dual head, expensive ~$80 from BlueC, two o-rings, similiar to the fuel heater o-ring, and an o-ring for the new threaded adaptor. I don't recall the new price of it, you'll need it, it's different than stock. Then two filters, one a FF - fuel filter, no drain, one a FS, water separator with drain. Both longer than fs1232, but shorter than fs1221. Mostly there for the 'cool factor'. I picked up the setup at the junkyard off a C-series Cummins. But it's used on 4b's, 6b's and 6c's.

You can also use remote-mount/frame-mount double filters found on nearly every big truck.
I have been meaning to rob one off of a junker that we have but just haven't taken the time.
Most of those have a coarse PRIMARY and a fine SECONDARY, the first filter catching the big stuff and the second straining out the molecules.
As a general rule, water doesn't get past these double-filters, even though they are not equipped with drains.
