front suspension question : D250
Question,
I'm looking under neath my steering linkages- looks like it needs a drag link as I can see movement (1/4 inch or so up and down). maybe more. I don't have $$ for a full rebuild- is there any other parts which should be inspected as they are weak links?
I can remember my Chevy's were idler arms and the lower ball joints.

lay on the ground, have someone else rock the steering wheel back and forth, if something moves, it needs replaced. There's so many parts under there, and they all go bad. Lotta weight riding on em.

Idler arms go bad alot, and the center link (drag link)
I'd replaced the Pitman arm, Idler arm, Center link. Then you should be good.
You can get the Center link and the Idler arm from Rockauto.com

Don't forget to inspect inner and outer tie rod joints. Any ball and socket type joints will wear out. You're better off replacing all of the steering joints/components. Knowing everything's new is some good assurance. A pitman arm isn't a part that needs replacing unless the taper in it is completely jacked. Most of the time they keep their shape. Just replace the center link, inner and outer tie rod ends and the idler and you'll be good to go for about $400. Get nothing but Moog parts also.
