Frame width at rear axle, pickup vs cab and chassis
Hey Guys,
Still planning on my crew cab stepside bed project, still haven't had a chance to do much...
I found a potentially better truck to do what I want to with compared to what I currently have, but it's a dually. That got me thinking about what it would take to make it all work with a stepside bed, including rear track width. I found this thread talking about track width and before that I hadn't even been aware that there was a distinct cab-and-chassis option. Based on the width I think it would be much easier to make the bolt-on fenders clear the outer wheels of a cab-and-chassis dually axle even if one would then have to cut in the bed and increase the size of the wheel wells, as opposed to trying to widen the outer fenders and having it look stupid.
So, my question, can a cab-and-chassis dually axle be placed under pickup frame, either a dually frame or a SRW frame, or are the frames on the conventional pickups too wide for that?

Good to know. I was worried that the frame on the cab and chassis was narrower, like on the modern trucks, and that the space between the inner tires would be too narrow for the pickup frame.
